Loren Treisman, PhD (Trust Executive)

Loren was employed as the new Trust Executive for The Indigo Trust on October 4th 2010 to coincide with a shift in the Trust’s focus towards using ICT to encourage democratic transparency and support development interventions.  She also hopes to stimulate other avenues for development, in the field of ICT4D.

Since completing a PhD in breast cancer research at Cambridge University, Loren has pursued a challenging and varied career.  She has managed, developed strategies and consulted on a variety of development projects in East Africa (predominantly Uganda and Tanzania), overseeing the complete project cycle.  Her focus has included income generation, education, youth empowerment, HIV/AIDS, peer education, public health, the environment, human rights, ICT and a variety of other issues.

Loren has also managed a £2.6 million, Big Lottery funded Health Programme at The Foyer Federation and expanded the organisation’s research, policy and innovation capacities.  She is also currently a Research Associate for Demos, where she conducts social research on a variety of issues, including those impacting upon young people, employment, health and international development.

Loren holds a First Class BSc (Hons) in Biological Sciences from Birmingham University, where she obtained the top First and gained several awards (John Jinks and Farmer).

Matt O’Reilly (Programme Manager)

Matt joined the Trust in 2011, having worked as a researcher with the Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts for the previous year. His work with SFCT saw him researching a wide array of issues from the environment and international trade to health inequalities and youth work. Since joining Indigo, Matt has led the Trust’s work around open data, particularly its involvement with the International Aid Transparency Initiative. He is also involved in all other aspects of the Trust’s work from health to hubs and agriculture to education.

Matt graduated from the University of Bristol with a First Class BA (Hons) in Modern Languages in 2008, since which time he has worked as a translator and film and television subtitler in Berlin and completed an MPhil on minority groups in the early German Democratic Republic. His academic background has provided him with a sound set of research skills, while his time at the Sainsbury Family Charitable Trusts has given him a solid grounding in philanthropy and the third sector.
