Indigo Trust are delighted to announce that it has awarded a grant of £5,000 to Fruits of Thought, towards Mapping Day Uganda.

Fruits of Thought  is a collection of projects with the common mission to ensure a  more valuable and practical use of the internet, by stimulating sharing of information and collaboration within communities.

OpenStreetMap (OSM) project.

Creating a map of Uganda is a big project with many national and international volunteers already contributing their time and money.  Fruits of Thought hope to extend their project by engaging more Ugandan students in their mapping activities and establishing a network of national mappers.

The grant from Indigo Trust will allow Mapping Events to be held at 5 Universities in Uganda.  These Mapping Days will teach additional skills and create hotspots of mappers that will eventually bring together all University teams by connecting their roads and residential area’s on the map.  Each University will receive a follow up session to maintain the network and reflect on the quality of the map.

Based in Kampala, Fruits of Thought is also supported by Mountbatten Ltd.
